The Opportunity
Growing global logistics firm is looking for a talented Microsoft SQL Server (2005, 2008, 2012) Database Administrator with 5+ years of
experience for its office in the eastern Cleveland suburbs. This DBA position will deliver operations and engineering excellence for several large
(multi-terabyte) databases in a clustered environment on a shared storage (SAN). The ideal candidate will be responsible for distributed database
environments on the Windows platform.
Role and Team
- Handle numerous production and development SQL installations
- Active development environment
- Friendly, team environment
- Performance Tuning and Optimization
- Monitor and maintain indexing and other factors affecting database performance
- Assist developers with query design, table layouts, normalizations, denormalizations
- Perform 24/7 production databases support
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, MIS, or related experience
- Minimum 5 years experience in MSSQL Database Management/Server
- Experience with MySQL a big plus
- Proven experience with database backups and remote disaster recovery
Skills / Characteristics
- Working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server 2005, 2008, 2012 database administration
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills
- Strong leadership skills
- Technical project management skills
- Ability to maintain high availability SQL Server databases
- Knowledge of MySQL will be an added advantage
